Spanish Runner Mohamed Katir Shatters European Indoor 3,000m Record at World Championships

Mohamed Katir is the new European indoor 3,000m champion, with a time of 7:24:68 obtained on Wednesday at the world championships in Liévin, France.
With this performance, the Spanish athlete of Moroccan origin has broken the European indoor 3,000m record, previously held by Adel Mechaal, another Spanish athlete of Moroccan origin, reports Nius Diario.
Mohamed Katir has also beaten the world record held since 1998 by the athlete Daniel Koman (7:24:90). But it is the Ethiopian Lamecha Girma who won the race with a time of 7:23:81, becoming the new world record holder in the indoor 3,000m.
Thus, Mohamed Katir, already the European vice-champion in the 5,000m, also becomes the world vice-champion in the indoor 3,000m.
