Spanish Runner Adel Mechaal Shatters European 3,000m Indoor Record in New York

The Spanish athlete of Moroccan origin, Adel Mechaal, achieved a historic performance on Sunday at the New Balance GP in New York with a time of 7:30.82, becoming the new European record holder in the 3,000 meters indoor.
Adel Mechaal was in the spotlight on Sunday after his brilliant performance at the New Balance Grand Prix in New York. With a time of 7:30.82, the Spanish athlete of Moroccan origin broke the European record in the 3,000 meters held since 2010 by Sergio Sánchez (7:32.41), reports AS.

Thanks to this performance, which is the 12th best time ever achieved in the 3,000 meters on an indoor track, Adel also becomes the second best world record holder of the year, behind the Ethiopian Berihu Aregawi who recorded a time of 7:26.20 on January 28 in Karlsruhe, Germany.
