Massive Drug Smuggling Tunnel Discovered Between Morocco and Spanish Enclave Ceuta

A 12-meter deep tunnel has been discovered in Ceuta. The Guardia Civil suspects its use to introduce drugs into the autonomous city from Morocco.
This tunnel connects an underground gallery and a warehouse in the Tarajal industrial zone on the border of Morocco with Ceuta. Very narrow and built of wood, it would have been used to transport drugs to Spain from Morocco, according to the Guardia Civil in a statement cited by Europa Press.
The investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent court and the office of the special anti-drug prosecutor to shed light on this tunnel, led to the arrest of 14 people, including deputy Mohamed Ali Duas (MDyC) and two civil guards suspected of being accomplices of criminal networks active in the hashish traffic between Morocco and Spain.
The defendants were arrested following the seizure of three trucks transporting more than 6,000 kilos of hashish, hidden in double bottoms. Central units of the Guardia Civil and the Andalusia area and the Ceuta command participated in this operation. The investigation is ongoing.
