Moroccan-Made Dacia Dominates European Car Market, Reshaping Industry Trends

The best-selling car in Spain and Europe in 2024 was produced in Morocco, particularly in the factories of Tangier and Casablanca.
It is a Dacia utility vehicle that has seduced many European drivers with its affordable price of 13,500 euros. The model recorded more than 300,000 sales in Europe in 2024, including 28,000 in Spain, according to diariomotor.com. According to experts in the sector, this trend reflects the loss of purchasing power of a part of the population and a change in priorities when buying a car.
The model should soon be subject to aesthetic and technological adjustments, it is reported. One of the new features would be the incorporation of a hybrid engine. The options considered include a 145 hp system already used in other models of the group, as well as a new 155 hp system recently presented for the first time worldwide in an SUV of the same brand. In both cases, fuel consumption should be less than 5 liters per 100 kilometers, which could strengthen its position on the market.
For some analysts, the fact that the best-selling car in Spain is produced in Morocco is a sign of the globalization of production and the increased attention of consumers to the quality/price ratio.
