Spanish Police Seize 700 Kilos of Hashish in Major Drug Bust on Costa del Sol

Spanish National Police agents intercepted on a toll road on the Algeciras-Malaga AP-7 route two rental vehicles and a van transporting drugs to France. In total, 700 kilos of hashish were seized and the drivers of the two vehicles were arrested in Malaga.
In early September, the Spanish police opened an investigation after learning of the existence of a French criminal organization that was preparing to transport a large shipment of drugs from Cadiz to France. After several steps, the investigators identified two French citizens who arrived in late August in Torremolinos (Malaga) and who would be linked to organizations dedicated to hashish trafficking.
According to the agents, the drugs were transported using the Go Fast method. To intercept the van, they positioned themselves at the AP-7 toll, near Manilva. The driver, having detected the presence of the police, tried to escape them by taking a closed toll lane. The vehicle was finally stopped near San Pedro Alcántara.
After inspecting the vehicles, the investigators found 21 packages of hashish weighing about 700 kilos, as well as 1,290 euros. The two drivers were arrested. According to the French authorities, the latter have extensive criminal records for aggravated theft, illegal possession of weapons and drug trafficking. The investigation continues in order to identify any other persons involved in this case.
