Spanish Police Seize $49 Million Worth of Hashish Disguised as Tomatoes

The National Police and the Civil Guard seized in Malaga more than 22 tons of Moroccan hashish worth 45 million euros. The drugs, hidden in fake tomatoes, were to be transported by road to France.
The agents made an initial seizure of 2,600 kilos of hashish stored in several boxes of fake tomatoes in a van in Malaga, which led them to the industrial area of Mollina in Malaga where the criminal network had hidden 19,700 more kilos of cannabis resin. In total, the 22,370 kilos of drugs seized are estimated by the investigators at 45 million euros, reports La Opinion de Malaga.
Ten people were arrested during this operation carried out on January 10, eight of whom are already in custody. The operation began in Cordoba, where a criminal organization was carrying out its drug trafficking activities between Spain and France. The network had significant human, technical, material and financial resources and operated under the cover of a legally constituted commercial company, the investigators explained in a press release.
