Key Drug Trafficking Suspect Arrested in Spain’s Costa del Sol Raid

The Civil Guard has arrested in Malaga the right-hand man of Fikri Amellah, the Moroccan-born drug trafficker arrested in Barcelona last December and accused of supplying drugs to the clans of the Strait of Gibraltar.
About ten people, including Fikri’s right-hand man, also of Moroccan nationality, were arrested during an operation carried out by the Central Operations Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard in Malaga and Barcelona, according to sources close to the investigation told Europa Press.
Since Fikri’s arrest last December, the criminal network has remained active and is directly linked to the introduction of five tons of hashish and four tons of cocaine, the same sources said, adding that the network would also have been responsible for drug shipments from the clans of the "Messi of hashish" and "Los Castaña".
Wanted by Europol and the French, Belgian and American police, Fikri Amellah ran a powerful drug trafficking and money laundering network in Barcelona, Malaga and other Spanish regions such as Pontevedra. He had warehouses in Morocco and had significant logistical means to transport huge quantities of drugs (hashish and cocaine) from the Moroccan coasts to Spain.
