Spanish Police Bust Ring Selling Thousands of Fake COVID-19 Tests

The Malaga police dismantled a network distributing fake Covid tests. In total, three individuals, including a Moroccan, were arrested and 25,000 of these tests were seized.

The three suspects, a Moroccan and two Pakistanis, created a fictitious company that allowed them to distribute, among other prohibited products, at least 10,000 fake Covid tests, reports Heraldo.

The National Police opened an investigation after being alerted by the Provincial Inspection of Health Services of the Andalusia Council, about the existence of this illegal company that was also distributing medical equipment in violation of current regulations, according to the Provincial Police Headquarters of Malaga in a press release.

The investigations allowed the agents to locate the establishments of each of the three suspects who were operating under the cover of the fictitious company and to seize 25,000 Covid tests. The detainees are presumed to be the perpetrators of the offenses of belonging to a criminal group, crime against public health, violation of consumer rights and fraud.
