Spanish Hotel Giant Barceló Expands in Morocco Ahead of 2030 World Cup

In anticipation of the 2030 World Cup, the Spanish hotel group Barceló plans to increase the capacity of its units in Casablanca to 600 rooms and carry out renovation work on the Farah hotel.
Barceló wants to strengthen its presence in Morocco, in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup. The Spanish hotel giant plans to make significant investments to renovate its units, announced its regional director, Enrique Acrich Ecker, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Mares30, indicating that the kingdom is now Barceló’s main investment country.
The Spanish group plans to increase to 600 the number of rooms in its establishments in Casablanca, including the Farah hotel which will be completely renovated over a year, added the manager, stressing that these actions are part of the group’s momentum to support the development of the Moroccan tourism sector, in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup.
The modernization of rail infrastructure, in particular the construction of the high-speed line between Marrakech and Agadir, and the construction of the Grand Stade Hassan II in Benslimane, as well as the various road projects aimed at improving connectivity with Casablanca, will contribute to strengthening the tourist attractiveness of this city, added the regional director of Barceló.
Present in Morocco since 2006, the Spanish hotel giant already has six units in the kingdom where it has invested more than 150 million euros in the acquisition, renovation and repositioning of several hotels, in collaboration with its local partners.
