Casablanca Airport Unveils High-Tech Baggage Center, Boosting Hub Status

As part of the "Airports 2030" strategy, the National Airports Office (ONDA) has just commissioned a new automated baggage sorting center at the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca.
The commissioning of the "Fast Baggage Center by ONDA" contributes to the modernization of the kingdom’s airport infrastructure and the transformation of Casablanca into a regional and international hub. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this center, installed in a 15,200 m² building, can process up to 6,000 bags per hour, with an average processing time reduced to five minutes.
The system consists of two interconnected automated sorters responsible for managing the baggage, a security system incorporating the latest generation of scanners, and an explosives detection system that complies with current standards.
This new automated baggage sorting center aims to ensure the continuity of transit and improve energy performance, with an announced reduction of 15% in consumption. It should help to streamline connections, decongest the traditional sorting circuits and reduce baggage delivery times upon arrival. The new system will be deployed gradually by the technical teams.
