Spanish Hotel Chain Soho Boutique Expands to Morocco, Eyes World Cup 2030 Opportunities

The Spanish hotel group Soho Boutique Hotels has decided to establish itself in Morocco, announced Javier Tor Nuevo, the North Africa director of the chain.
"We took the leap to Morocco because it is a country with a lot of projection thanks to the 2030 World Cup and other sporting events such as the Women’s World Cup," said Tor Nuevo, during an event at which he also presented the vision and investment prospects of the chain in Spain.
The hotel group will open three hotels in the kingdom. The first, which will have 59 rooms, is under construction in Tetouan. "... We started with a small hotel so they can see that we want to continue to develop," explained Tor Nuevo, indicating that two other five-star hotels will be built in Tangier and Casablanca.
The global hotel sector remains confronted with "the lack of staff and qualified personnel," also lamented the North Africa director of Soho Boutique Hotels. "When you manage to train them, all of a sudden, the colleagues in the sector take them away from you," he continued, stressing the urgent need to work to make the sector more attractive to employees.
