Spain Streamlines Moroccan Driver’s License Recognition with New Digital Process

The Spanish government has approved the digitization of the process of recognizing the Moroccan driving license for Moroccans residing in the country. The measure came into effect this summer.
Concretely, an online appointment is now offered to Moroccans in Spain, owners of private vehicles, in order to obtain the recognition of their driving license issued by the Moroccan authorities. There is no question of distributing licenses for free or issuing them faster to the detriment of other driving licenses issued in Spain, as some rumors try to make believe, relays El Faro de Ceuta.
"The exchange of a driving license from a third country is the most complex procedure that exists in the field of drivers, since it requires, on the one hand, a prior verification by the issuing authority of the country of origin or a specific certification and, on the other hand, the obligation to undergo a medical examination, to prove one’s residence and, in the case of professional licenses, to pass an examination," explains the Directorate General of Transport (DGT).
