Spain offers 3,000 euros to recruit Moroccans and save its transport

Spain is facing a critical shortage of more than 35,000 professional drivers. To address this shortage that is leading to the recruitment of Moroccan workers, the Spanish government has just approved a financial aid of 3,000 euros to cover the training costs of candidates.

The Iberian road transport sector is experiencing a major labor shortage, with an estimated lack of 30,000 truck drivers and nearly 5,000 bus drivers. This situation has led companies to turn to Moroccan labor to maintain their activity. However, many applicants are faced with the high costs of entering the profession, particularly to finance the mandatory training and specific licenses.

To remove these financial obstacles, Madrid has adopted a royal decree establishing a grant of up to 3,000 euros. This envelope aims to help aspiring drivers obtain the C and D category driving licenses. The objective is to encourage new candidates to enter the labor market to meet the growing demand from carriers.

Access to this government program remains regulated. Applicants must hold a technical certificate in the operation of road transport vehicles or be enrolled in the second year of training. They must also have the Professional Competence Certificate (CAP), recognized in the sector. The system also allows registration for the C or D licenses, with the possibility of extension to the B license for those who already have other professional qualifications.
