In Spain, PP and PSOE vote together for a resolution condemning Morocco
The Popular Party and the Socialist Party voted on Thursday, alongside left-wing parties, for a resolution condemning the deaths of three Polisario members in an attack attributed to Morocco in June. The text was adopted by a committee in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands; Vox abstained.
The proposal was put forward by the “Peace and Freedom in Western Sahara” intergroup, which includes representatives of the PP, PSOE, MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca, among others. It received the votes of all groups represented on the social affairs committee, with the exception of Vox, reports Europa Press.

One of the three dead was Lehbib Mohamed Abdelaziz, a member of the Polisario’s national secretariat and the son of Mohamed Abdelaziz, the movement’s former leader. His death in a drone strike in June had already been reported by Bladi.
The resolution condemns the attack and reaffirms the regional chamber’s support for the “right of the Sahrawis to self-determination”. It advocates a negotiated solution within the framework of the United Nations and calls on international institutions to step up their diplomatic efforts.
The vote thus brings together, on this text, two parties that usually disagree over Spain’s policy toward Morocco.
