In addition to these civil engineering works, the security system at the two borders will be strengthened with the installation of alarms and cameras along the fences. Coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior, these works will start on February 28, 2022 and should last until 2026. "Due to the attacks and attempted assaults they are subjected to quite frequently, it is necessary to have an adequate maintenance system for the borders in order to guarantee their functioning and operability," explained the Subdirectorate General for Infrastructure Planning and Management.
