Drones over the bay, warships and helicopters on display: this is the military showcase Spanish industry leaders are considering around Cádiz. Nearby, Navantia shipyards and Airbus facilities could provide a setting for hosting foreign delegations.

Under the plan, an event near Rota naval base would complement FEINDEF, Spain’s major defense show held in Madrid. Several names have even been floated, including Rota Naval & Air Show. The idea is still at the planning stage, reports Escudo Digital.

Meanwhile, across the Strait, industry sources involved in a Moroccan project told the same outlet that the Marrakech Air Show could expand to the coast. Two sites are being considered: Ksar Sghir, near Tangier, and Casablanca. The idea would be to hold naval displays there, possibly with support from American or Israeli technologies.

From Marrakech to the sea: Morocco’s plan

The Marrakech show already has an international profile. Its October 7 to 10 edition welcomed nearly 200 exhibitors from 27 countries and more than 60 official delegations. According to the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, 26 strategic agreements were signed there, particularly in defense and aerospace.

Emirati industry leaders had also announced they would attend in Marrakech, alongside other foreign manufacturers.

In Spain, FEINDEF is preparing for a record edition in May 2027: 89 100 m², 46% more than in 2025, with more than 746 exhibitors already confirmed. But its location in Madrid does not allow for the maritime demonstrations envisioned for Cádiz.

Organizers of the Spanish project are considering an alternating schedule: FEINDEF in Madrid in odd-numbered years, and an air and naval showcase near Rota in even-numbered years.
