Spain Extends Border Closure with Morocco at Ceuta and Melilla Until July 31

The Ministry of the Interior has published a decree in the Official Gazette prohibiting the entry of seasonal workers from countries whose borders with Spain are closed.
Subject to possible changes, the decree of the Ministry of the Interior announced that the border posts of Ceuta and Melilla will remain closed until July 31, 2020 at midnight, reports EFE.
This ministerial decree establishes that Spain is restricting the entry of cross-border and seasonal workers from states that have kept their borders closed, as they are unable to return once their professional activities are completed.
The decree also defines the new applicable criteria for refusing entry to travelers from third countries to the EU for public health reasons due to the Covid-19 health crisis.
The decree refers to the new recommendation of the Council of the EU of July 16, which modifies the list of countries to which the restrictions do not apply, including Serbia and Montenegro where the epidemiological situation has worsened.
Thus, Morocco, Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, are not affected by the temporary restriction on non-essential travel to the EU through external borders.
