Spain Allocates €720,000 for Ceuta and Melilla Border Maintenance

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has planned to allocate a budget of 720,000 euros for the maintenance and upkeep of the borders of Ceuta and Melilla over the next two years.
The maintenance of the borders of Ceuta and Melilla with Morocco will cost Spain an amount of 720,000 euros over the next two years, indicates a note from the Ministry of the Interior published on Friday in the Official Journal of the State (BOE). On the same day, the department launched a call for tenders for the recruitment of the company that will carry out these overall maintenance works on the border facilities in the two autonomous cities.

The deadline for submitting bids is set for December 9 at 7:00 pm and the opening of the bids will take place on December 16 at 10:30 am. The company that will be selected must have qualified personnel, including a civil engineer or an industrial engineer or an architect to play the role of maintenance supervisor, as well as two civil or industrial engineers or architects.

The Ministry of the Interior had announced in October that the second phase of the reinforcement works on the Tarajal border would start in November and those of the Beni Enzar border crossing next year. According to ministry sources, 5 million euros will be invested for the rehabilitation of the Melilla border in 2022.
