Son Kills Mother in Violent Dispute Over Money in Moroccan Village

A terrible family drama occurred on Thursday evening in Douar Chorfa, in the commune of Chtaiba, near Kelaâ des Sraghna. A woman in her fifties was fatally struck on the head by her own son.
According to sources close to the investigation, the young man, suffering from mental disorders, would have had a violent altercation with his mother. Their dispute would have broken out when the son demanded money from his mother, presumably to buy drugs.
Faced with her refusal, he would have attacked her with a bladed weapon, inflicting fatal blows to her head.
Alerted, the authorities quickly transported the victim’s body to the morgue of the Kelaâ des Sraghna hospital for an autopsy to be performed. The royal gendarmerie opened an investigation and arrested the suspect.
