Land Dispute Turns Deadly in Moroccan Village

A terrible family tragedy struck the Ksar El Kébir region on Monday. A woman and her son were involved in the death of their brother and uncle, respectively, following a land dispute.
The Drabla douar was the scene of this homicide. The victim, T.G., father of three children, had argued with his sister, S.G., about an agricultural plot of land. S.G. had sold this parcel, but following a land consolidation, it was allocated to her brother. T.G. then set out to cultivate the land and evict the initial buyer, which angered his sister and nephew.
The disagreement escalated into a violent altercation during which the sister and her son attacked the victim with a stick and a sickle, taking his life.
Local sources reported to Hespress that some residents ended up with lower quality lands, while others were dispossessed of their olive trees without compensation.
