Sofia Marathon Winners Suspended After Testing Positive for EPO Doping

Among the men, Youssef Sbaai finished first after a sprint against his compatriot Raduan Nouini. The Somali-born Dutchman, Mohamed Ali, came in third.
Sporza indicates that Sbaai and Chapilina tested positive for EPO after the marathon. Both have been temporarily suspended and will be removed from the list of winners of the last edition of the marathon.
Sbaai had won the marathon in 2 hours 13 minutes and 3 seconds. Chapilina, for her part, finished in a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 57 seconds. Both had beaten their personal best during the marathon.
