Severe Winter Weather Alert: Morocco Braces for Heavy Snow and Freezing Temperatures

From tomorrow and until Sunday, several Moroccan regions will be confronted with snowfall and temperatures well below 0 degrees, warns a bulletin from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
In a special orange-level weather bulletin, the DGM specifies that snowfall with a depth of 15 to 35 cm is expected from Friday (6 p.m.) to Saturday (11 p.m.) in the provinces of Al Hoceima, Boulemane, Béni Mellal, Figuig, Chefchaouen, Guercif, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Jerada, Khenifra, Midelt, Sefrou, Taourirt and Taza. Some snow flurries are also expected tomorrow afternoon on the peaks of the Rif and the North of the Middle Atlas.
Temperature drops close to 0 degrees and maximum temperatures between 1 degree and 8 degrees are also expected during the same period in the provinces of Al Haouz, Al Hoceima, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Boulemane, Chefchaouen, Chichaoua, Figuig, Guercif, Oujda, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Jerada, Khenifra, Midelt, Taourirt, Errachidia, Ouarzazate, Sefrou, Taroudant, Taza and Tinghir.
On the other hand, the North and Central Atlantic plains will be affected by rather cold to cold weather with temperatures ranging between 3 degrees and 6 degrees from Sunday to Monday, while the Phosphates and Oulmès plateaus will face temperatures ranging between 0°C and 4°C.
