Severe Weather Alert: Morocco Braces for Snow, Storms, and High Winds

From Thursday at 6pm to Friday at 11pm, the provinces of Larache, Chichaoua, M’diq-Fnideq, Al Hoceima, Moulay Yacoub, Meknès, Sefrou, Tétouan, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Taza, Guercif, Ouarzazate, El Hajeb, Taouanate, Ifrane, Chefchaouen, Fès and Ouezzane will be particularly affected by strong winds of 85 to 100 km/h, with dust storm phenomena.

During the same period, slightly less strong winds, from 75 to 85 km/h, will also affect the provinces of Salé, Kénitra, Benslimane, Settat, Rehamna, Mohammedia, Essaouira, Tanger-Assilah, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Casablanca, Mediouna, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Rabat, Skhirate-Témara, El Jadida, Sidi Slimane, Khemisset, Boulemane, Sidi Kacem, Berrechid, Marrakech, Midelt, Fahs-Anjra and Nouaceur.

Similarly, heavy thunderstorms ranging from 60 to 90 mm are expected from Friday at 00h to Saturday at 10h in the provinces of Azilal, Al Haouz, Tanger Assilah, Tétouan, Ouezzane, Midelt, Béni Mellal, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Chefchaouen, Taza and Taounate.

Other provinces, including Skhirate-Témara, Chichaoua, Essaouira, Rabat, Salé, Safi, Khénifra, M’Diq-Fnideq, Sefrou, Kénitra and Ifrane, will be affected by less intense thunderstorms, from 40 to 60 mm, from Friday at 00h to Saturday at 6h.

Finally, snow will make its appearance in the provinces of Ifrane, Midelt, Tinghir, Azilal and Béni Mellal, with snowfall expected from Friday at 00h to Saturday at 6h.
