Severe Snowstorm Disrupts Travel in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Region

Heavy snowfall has paralyzed several national, regional and provincial roads in the Middle Atlas regions, with motorists finding themselves blocked for several hours.
The Middle Atlas regions, particularly in the province of Ifrane and its surroundings, have experienced significant snowfall, surprising many drivers. As a result, traffic has been disrupted on several road sections, leading to the closure of other sections to traffic. These include National Road No. 13, connecting the commune of Azrou to that of Témahdite, and Provincial Road No. 7231 connecting Ifrane to Hebri via Michlifen. National Road No. 8 connecting the commune of Azrou to the province of Ifrane has also been closed to all types of vehicles since the early hours of Monday, reports Assabah.
Closely monitoring the situation, the services of the provincial directorate of the Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics have published hourly information on the state of affairs and the precautions to be taken by road users. They have also alerted drivers to the dangers. Finally, they have intervened to reopen certain roads to traffic.
