Serious accident between Rabat and Casablanca: Autoroutes du Maroc explains

A serious road accident involving several vehicles occurred this Tuesday, November 4th on the Rabat-Casablanca axis. The company Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM) explained this Wednesday about this event that cost one person their life and significantly disrupted traffic for several hours.

The incident, a pileup, occurred at 5:27 pm at kilometer point 55, just after the Mohammedia Centre interchange heading towards Casablanca. According to ADM, seven light vehicles and one heavy vehicle were involved. The provisional report announced by the competent authorities indicates one fatality, one seriously injured, and three lightly injured.

As soon as the accident was detected, ADM says it mobilized its teams to secure the site and coordinated the intervention of the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, and towing services.

Return to normal after four hours of disruption

Traffic was immediately and significantly slowed down in the Rabat-Casablanca direction. The evacuation of the accident vehicles, particularly the truck, required specific means and forced the authorities to carry out temporary traffic stops to clear the road.

The return to normal could only start gradually from 9:03 pm, nearly four hours after the impact. ADM finally specifies that this accident also caused disruptions in the other direction (Casablanca-Rabat), where minor collisions were recorded at the same level, likely due to a curiosity effect from motorists.
