School Principal Released After Father Drops Sexual Abuse Case Against 8-Year-Old Daughter

A man agreed to drop the proceedings against his daughter’s aggressor in exchange for financial compensation. The defendant, a school principal in Kenitra, had sexually abused an 8-year-old girl who was pursuing her schooling in the establishment.
The investigating judge in charge of the case decided, last Saturday, to release the defendant, despite the charge brought against him by the public prosecutor’s office. The victim’s father had to waive the legal action, by signing a declaration on honor.
The plaintiff would have agreed to be compensated in reparation for the damages suffered by his daughter. However, the exact amount is unknown. The transaction has once again sparked controversy on social networks.
In October, a young teenager in Meknes had filed a complaint against her teacher for sexual assault. Her father, widely criticized on social media for having "sacrificed his daughter’s honor for a few dirhams," had withdrawn the complaint in exchange for an offer of 20,000 dirhams.
