Saudi Club Eyes Moroccan World Cup Star Azzedine Ounahi in Potential OM Transfer

Saudi Arabia wants to do its shopping in the selection of Walid Regragui, coach of the Atlas Lions. A Saudi club has in its sights Azzedine Ounahi, Moroccan midfielder of Olympique de Marseille (OM), who was also one of the revelations of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Morocco, which it wishes to recruit during the next transfer window.
Arrived from Angers at OM in January 2023 for 8 million euros thanks to his brilliant participation in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, punctuated by a semi-final, Ounahi is struggling to impose himself in the Phocaean city. He has scored only two goals and one assist in 30 appearances this season. Enough to disappoint the Marseille club management, which is ready to let him go during the summer transfer window if it receives an attractive offer, i.e. 18 million euros while his contract runs until the summer of 2027. This amount has been set due to several factors, including the young age of the Atlas Lion and his official status with the national team.

Al Ittihad would be ready to sign the 23-year-old player as early as the next transfer window. It had meanwhile declined the offer of the Saudi club Al Hilal where his compatriot goalkeeper of the national team Yassine Bounou plays during the winter transfer window. In addition to Al Ittihad, the Spanish clubs Villarreal and Getafe would also like to solicit Ounahi’s services.
