Marseille's World Cup Star Ounahi Eyes Saudi Transfer Amid OM Struggles

The Moroccan midfielder of Olympique de Marseille (OM) Azzedine Ounahi, one of the revelations of the Qatar 2022 World Cup with Morocco, seems more than ever on the way out and could even leave during the summer transfer window.

Azzedine Ounahi could leave OM this summer. His club is ready to let him go if it receives an attractive offer. "Azzedine Ounahi often regrets not having seized the opportunity to sign in Saudi Arabia this winter. For the coming summer, OM will not oppose his departure in case of an interesting offer," writes L’Équipe.

Arrived from Angers at OM in January 2023 for 8 million euros thanks to his brilliant participation in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, punctuated by a semi-final, Ounahi is struggling to launch his adventure in the Phocaean city. "Dr. Azzedine with Morocco and Mr. Ounahi with OM. The contrast is striking between the selection player (28 caps, 4 goals), fulfilled and central in Walid Regragui’s project, and the Marseille midfielder, rarely in sync with his teammates, in construction as in effort," comments the French sports media.

Is Saudi Arabia the next destination for the Atlas Lion? The 23-year-old player had meanwhile declined the offer from the Saudi club Al Hilal, where his compatriot goalkeeper Yassine Bounou plays, during the winter transfer window. The London club Brentford, as well as the Spanish clubs Villarreal and Getafe, would also be interested in him.
