Ounahi Shines as Marseille Edges Benfica in Europa League Thriller

Olympique de Marseille qualified on Thursday evening at the expense of Benfica in the Europa League quarter-final return match, which saw OM win on penalties (1-0, 4-2 on penalties). Let’s look at the performance of Azzedine Ounahi as seen by the sports press.
Footmercato gave Ounahi a rating of 7/10, highlighting his considerable impact in midfield. The Moroccan player was described as "available and diligent", playing with "personality" and not hesitating to project himself forward. However, his substitution in the 57th minute gave way to Luis Henrique, whose performance was more mixed.
According to Maxifoot, Ounahi also deserved a 7/10, highlighting one of his best performances of the season. Very influential in the construction of the game, he was able to "slip between the lines" with ease. The decision to replace him before the hour of play was greeted with whistles from the public at the Vélodrome, a sign that his substitution was not approved by the supporters.
90mn.com confirmed this 7/10 rating, emphasizing Ounahi’s activity at the heart of the game, with his multiple calls and attempts at combinations, notably with Amine Harit. However, the site noted a loss of efficiency due to sometimes excessive search for passes.
Le Phocéen also gave Ounahi a 7/10, praising his level of play, especially in the first half where he represented the main threat to Benfica’s defense. His substitution under the whistles of the public was judged "unfair" given his positive contribution.
On the other hand, Le Quotidien du Sport was more critical, giving Ounahi a 5/10 rating, referring to a "complicated match" for the player. His performance seemed less convincing and he was replaced just before the hour of play.
Homme du Match offered a slightly more positive perspective with a 6/10 rating. The midfielder was recognized for his ability to find well-placed partners, but was criticized for not trying his luck from afar, which could have compensated for some inaccuracies.
