Samuel Eto’o loses his temper against Lekjaa and Motsepe: CAF strikes hard!

The sanction is accompanied by a $20,000 fine. The continental body points to the attitude of the former international during the match lost by the Indomitable Lions (2-0) last Friday. This measure adds to a previous six-month suspension already imposed by FIFA in September last year.

During the match, Samuel Eto’o expressed his dissatisfaction with several refereeing decisions. Witnesses and images show him directly addressing his Moroccan counterpart, Fouzi Lekjaa, as well as the CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, from the official stands.

Fecafoot firmly contests this decision, considering it "devoid of any explicit motivation". The federation denounces the speed of the procedure and believes that the requirements of a fair trial have not been respected. Samuel Eto’o plans to file an appeal to challenge this verdict.

Paradoxically, the Cameroonian leader had adopted a more conciliatory tone after the final whistle. In the locker room, he had given a speech of encouragement to his players while saluting the quality of the Moroccan organization. However, these precautions did not influence the decision of the disciplinary commission.
