2025 AFCON Final: CAF Responds to Senegalese Football Federation
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially responded to the criticisms made by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) regarding the organization of the final against Morocco. The continental body assures that it has applied a uniform treatment to all the selections and rejects any breach of the security, accommodation or sporting fairness protocols.
This institutional dispute originates from several reports from the Senegalese side, particularly on the conditions of arrival of the delegation at the Rabat train station, which were deemed insufficient in terms of security. However, CAF has specified that the logistical requests have been processed in accordance with the usual practices, emphasizing that the FSF was able to choose its own five-star hotel establishment after its initial reservations. Similarly, faced with the Senegalese’s refusal to train at the Mohammed VI Complex - which they considered too close to the Moroccan base camp - an alternative training ground was made available to them by the local organizing committee.
Regarding ticketing, the body chaired by Patrice Motsepe adheres to a strict application of the regulations. While the Senegalese federation considered the quota of seats allocated to its supporters to be insufficient, CAF has recalled that the allocations and purchase ceilings have not undergone any derogation compared to the previous stages of the competition. According to the body, the exchanges between its administration and the President of the FSF, Abdoulaye Fall, have remained regular in order to ensure that the match is held under normal conditions.
