Rym Fikri: serious accusations against the singer

The family of Rym Fikri’s disappeared, kidnapped and then murdered husband has made serious accusations against the singer. Her lawyer is defending her.

Rym Fikri’s husband had been kidnapped on February 8, near his home in Casablanca, by individuals who were on board an SUV, before being murdered. His body was found in the bed of a river near Rabat. Following the announcement of the murder of her late husband, the in-laws have made accusations against Rym Fikri. According to the father of the deceased, his son "was not doing well since he met" the singer. It was she "who managed his money," he added, stating that his late son had started to have health problems, including "memory lapses," and that his mother was helping him overcome this phase.

These accusations have provoked reactions from Mourad Elajouti, the singer’s lawyer. In a statement, he says he has "received with deep astonishment and perplexity suspicious statements" from the family of his client’s husband. "While we firmly condemn these unfounded accusations and without substantial evidence, we wonder about their motivations and their opportunism, given that they come before even the funeral rites and condolences," the lawyer added. Specifying that "the investigations into this case are still ongoing," he believes that "these statements could constitute a violation of the secrecy of the investigation and a manifest desire to deprive my client of her succession rights."

Elajouti does not rule out the possibility of taking legal action against Rym Fikri’s late husband’s family. "Although we understand the difficult circumstances the family of the deceased is going through, we warn them that these statements constitute defamation and slander, punishable by criminal sanctions, and my client reserves the right to resort to all legal means to protect her reputation and all her rights," he continued.
