Moroccan Singer Rym Fikri Files Defamation Lawsuit Against In-Laws Amid Family Dispute

Moroccan singer Rym Fekri has filed a complaint against members of her late husband’s family following serious accusations against her.
After waiting to recover the body of her late husband, Rim Fikri, through her lawyer Mourad El Ajouti, filed a complaint for defamation, insults, slander, attack on a constituted authority and slanderous denunciation against members of her in-laws, reports Hespress. The singer is notably demanding "the prosecution of her husband’s sister under Articles 263 and 265 of the Penal Code, after statements containing insults towards the law enforcement authorities in a video that was transcribed, where she accuses them of manipulating the file and corruption in this case."
Rym Fikri’s husband had been kidnapped on February 8, near his home in Casablanca, by individuals who were on board an all-terrain vehicle, before being murdered. His body will be found in the bed of a river near Rabat. Subsequently, the Casablanca police arrested six individuals, including a French national of Moroccan origin, the main suspect. Following the announcement of the murder of her late husband, the in-laws made accusations against Rym Fikri. According to the father of the deceased, his son "was not doing well since he met" the singer. It was she "who managed his money", he added, stating that his late son began to have health problems, including "memory lapses" and that his mother was helping him overcome this phase.
After a long silence, Rym Fikri responded to these accusations. "I console myself by asking myself a single question to which I have found no answer, why did the family attack me and not spare me?", questioned the singer. Apparently, she blames herself for nothing and says she is counting on the Moroccan justice system to shed light on the circumstances of her husband’s murder. "Thank God for everything and I trust justice to uphold the law and the divine court is unquestionable," she adds. She also published a song on her official YouTube channel, titled 23, whose lyrics contain messages and responses describing her suffering throughout this recent period.
A settling of scores between the victim and the main suspect would be at the origin of the murder of her husband.
