Part of the Belgian bridge delegation participating in the world card game championships taking place in Marrakech from August 20 to September 2, and other passengers on a Ryanair flight, found themselves stranded at the airport in the ochre city.
Following the cancellation of their flight, 190 passengers on the Tuesday afternoon Ryanair flight from Marrakech to Brussels are stranded at the airport in the ochre city. Among them, part of the Belgian bridge delegation participating in the world card game championships taking place in the same city. "We arrived at the airport and saw that our flight was cancelled on the display board," explains Jean-François, one of the defrauded passengers to La Libre. At the Ryanair counter, there was no one to give us the slightest explanation."
"Finally, after insisting, Ryanair offered us an alternative flight for... next Tuesday. This company is hellish. I saw a family panicking, because one of their sons was returning to school this Friday. We feel taken hostage," he added. Waiting for another flight to return to Belgium, members of the Belgian delegation and other passengers were forced to find accommodation in Marrakech. According to a supporter, the Belgian mixed team that qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament is only returning on Sunday with another company than Ryanair.
