Russian Demand for Morocco Trips Nearly Quadrupled in First Nine Months of 2026
Morocco is attracting growing numbers of Russian holidaymakers. According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, demand for stays in the kingdom nearly quadrupled between January and September 2026. The increase far outpaced those recorded for Egypt and Tanzania.

Nearly four times as many requests for trips to Morocco in just nine months. That is the striking figure released by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), based on data from specialist service Sletat.ru. Between January and September 2026, interest in Morocco surged compared with the same period in 2025, the Russian news agency Moskva reported on October 12.

The comparison with other African destinations is particularly striking. Over the same period, demand for trips to Tanzania multiplied by 2.6, while Egypt recorded an increase of 34%. Morocco thus posted the strongest growth of the three countries compared by Sletat.ru, although these figures do not show which attracted the most holidaymakers.
Russian travel professionals say the trend is due in part to improved air links, a wider range of trips on offer and more competitive prices. ATOR notes that flights to Morocco are available daily, while other African destinations remain harder to reach. The kingdom was already among the destinations still served by direct flights from Russia despite the reduction in international air services.
Growing interest has yet to show up in arrival figures
The increase should, however, be interpreted carefully. Sletat.ru’s data measure tourism demand recorded by a commercial service. They do not mean that Morocco welcomed four times as many Russian visitors this year. The association has not disclosed either the number of requests behind the increase or the number of bookings actually made.

Official figures available for 2025 had already pointed to growth in this market. According to data from Russia’s border guards, 27 700 Russian nationals travelled to Morocco, up 39,6% year on year. This measures actual travel, unlike the commercial indicator published this week.
Morocco is benefiting from a broader shift toward African destinations. In comments cited by the Russian business news agency Prime, ATOR also pointed to growing interest in Kenya, South Africa and Zanzibar. But among the three destinations for which Sletat.ru published figures on demand growth, Morocco recorded the sharpest rise.
