Royal Air Maroc Offers Voluntary Departure Plan Amid Financial Struggles

In a service note No. 022/20, RAM announces its voluntary departure plan. The target of agents and executives concerns those aged over 56 and with more than 15 years of seniority as of July 1, 2020. An eight-day deadline is granted for the filing of files which will then be validated by a dedicated commission.

To benefit from this voluntary departure plan, five conditions must be met according to RAM. First, the lump sum will be calculated on a well-defined basis. This is the number of months remaining until the age of 60 x net salary after tax and contributions x 80%. There is also the coverage of the mutual in employer and salary shares until the age of 60. Then, we also note the payment of a retirement bonus equivalent to the net value of five months of gross salary capped at 100,000 DH. In addition, there is the payment of the employee’s share of "RECORE" contributions due until the age of 60. Finally, there is the granting of tickets at reduced rates under the conditions provided for by the regulations applicable to the company’s retired personnel.

This note comes after long discussions with the unions which managed to wrest more benefits for employees who wish to leave the company. It should be remembered that RAM’s revenue losses are estimated at 20 million dirhams per day.
