Royal Air Maroc Expands Routes: New Tenerife Flight and American Airlines Codeshare Approved

While Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is working on the launch in the spring of a route between Casablanca and southern Tenerife, replacing the one to northern Tenerife, its request for authorization to move from an interline agreement to a codeshare with American Airlines has been approved.
This new route will be launched on April 2, 2020, with two weekly flights between RAM’s base in Casablanca-Mohammed V and Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport. These flights will be operated by RAM Express in ATR 72-600 aircraft that can accommodate 12 passengers in Business class and 58 in Economy class. Outbound flights are scheduled on Thursdays and Saturdays at 3:20 pm to arrive at 6:35 pm, while return flights depart at 7:20 pm to land at 10:05 pm.
According to Airlineroute, a third rotation will be added, covering the period from July 5 to September 19. Since 2013, the Moroccan airline had served northern Tenerife. The island is RAM’s sixth destination in Spain after Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Gran Canaria and Valencia, it is specified.
In November, RAM had filed a request for authorization to move from an interline agreement to a codeshare with American Airlines; this has been approved. As a result, American Airlines customers can now book AA-coded flights operated by RAM since December 25 between New York-JFK, Washington, Boston or Miami and Casablanca, with connections to Marrakech and beyond.
"Royal Air Maroc is a leading African carrier and its hub in Casablanca is perfectly positioned to offer our customers convenient connections between North America and more than 40 destinations across Africa," American Airlines said in a statement. "With its upcoming entry into the Oneworld alliance and our recently announced service between Philadelphia and Casablanca, we are committed to creating more opportunities for our customers to visit unique destinations in Africa," said Vasu Raja, the company’s Vice President of Network Strategy.
