American Airlines Launches First-Ever Route to Africa with Philadelphia-Casablanca Flight

"American Airlines" intends to launch five new intercontinental routes next summer. Among them, Philadelphia-Casablanca, a first for the airline that has not been interested in Africa until now.

From Morocco, the airline "American Airlines" will make its very first landing on the African continent. It will inaugurate, on June 4, 2020, a new seasonal route between its base in Philadelphia and Casablanca’s "Mohammed V" Airport. In total, three flights per week will be operated on Boeing 757s, until September 8, without competition.

In a press release, Vasu Raja, Vice President of Network and Planning at "American Airlines", expresses the motivation of the American company: "Our customers and team members have asked us when we will start service in Africa, and I couldn’t be happier to make this announcement for 2020."

"We look forward to working with ’Royal Air Maroc’ when they join the ’Oneworld’ Alliance in January," he said.

According to him, this membership "will allow us to create even more connections in Africa, to cities like Marrakech, Lagos and Accra. And this is just the beginning."

Outside of Africa, the American company will launch, on September 9, 2020, a new route between Dallas-Fort Worth and Tel Aviv-Ben Gurion Airport, due to the ever-increasing demand between the United States and Israel.

As for the three other seasonal routes to Central and Eastern Europe, they will be inaugurated next spring, all operated on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners and without competition.
