Royal Air Maroc Expands Fleet and Routes for Summer Travel Surge

Important announcements were made on Tuesday by the CEO of Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Abdelhamid Addou. They concern in particular the next summer season and the acquisition of new aircraft.

A total of 6.2 million seats will be offered on 90 destinations this summer. These offers include 2.3 million seats to 34 European airports, 500,000 to North America, 901,000 to Africa with 26 direct flights, and 200,000 seats for the Middle East markets. To support this ramp-up, RAM plans to lease six additional new generation aircraft.

The CEO took the opportunity to announce the introduction of new routes. Three new routes will connect Tangier to Madrid and Barcelona in Spain, as well as London in England. Another route will also be inaugurated between Oujda and Düsseldorf in Germany. To meet demand, RAM will increase the frequency of its flights, with two daily flights planned between Casablanca and several cities in Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Bologna, Malaga and Brussels.

Furthermore, during his speech on Tuesday before the Commission on Infrastructure, Energy, Mines and Environment of the House of Representatives, Mr. Addou revealed RAM’s medium-term ambitions. The national airline aspires to become the leading airline in Africa, by strengthening its position on the continental scale.

Finally, the CEO of RAM unveiled a strategic growth plan for the next ten years. This includes doubling the size of the company’s fleet. This significant expansion, coupled with consolidation on the Europe-West Africa axis and the exploration of new geographical areas, reflects RAM’s ambition to position itself as a major international player focused on the customer.
