Moroccan Airline Royal Air Maroc Plans Fleet Expansion with Boeing Jets

The CEO of Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Abdelhamid Addou, announced the upcoming launch of tenders for the acquisition of at least ten aircraft.

The national Moroccan airline company is preparing to buy at least ten Boeings, including seven 737 MAX 8s and three 787 Dreamliners, said the official, specifying that these aircraft will be the subject of leasing contracts with purchase options between RAM and various companies in order to support an expected return to profitability in 2027.

Royal Air Maroc currently has around fifty aircraft, including two 737-8s (configured in 12+144), five 787-8s (18+256), four 787-9s (26+276), thirty 737-800s (12+147), one 767-300F, as well as four Embraer 190s (12-84), six ATR 72-600s assigned to its subsidiary Royal Air Maroc Express and leased Airbus A330s with crew.

As part of its strategic plan for the 2023-2037 period, the company plans to expand its fleet, going from 50 to 200 aircraft. Morocco has set a target of attracting 26 million tourists per year by 2030.
