Royal Air Maroc Launches Massive Fleet Expansion with 200-Plane Order

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has officially launched a tender for the acquisition of 200 new aircraft. This colossal investment aims to quadruple RAM’s fleet within a decade, in order to propel the Moroccan company towards new ambitions and contribute to the growth of tourism in Morocco.
"The tender was launched on April 15," said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, to Reuters. The Moroccan airline, one of the largest in Africa, plans to receive these new aircraft in a staggered manner over the next 10 years. This major acquisition will allow RAM to renew and expand its fleet, going from 52 aircraft currently to 200 by 2037.
The choice of aircraft will mainly focus on medium-haul models, suitable for regional and continental routes, but also on long-haul and short-haul aircraft, thus meeting the diverse needs of the clientele.
RAM’s ambition is not limited to the renewal of its fleet. The airline is also committed to playing a driving role in the development of tourism in Morocco. Indeed, the acquisition of these 200 new aircraft is part of the country’s tourism development plan, which aims to attract 17.5 million tourists by 2026 and 26 million by 2030, the year during which Morocco will host the World Cup.
Last year, Morocco crossed a historic milestone by recording a record number of 14.5 million tourist arrivals.
