Royal Air Maroc Aims to Triple Fleet Size for 2030 World Cup in Morocco

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is working to strengthen its fleet of aircraft before the 2030 World Cup that Morocco is co-hosting with Spain and Portugal. The goal is to have 130 aircraft to contribute to the success of this event.

The Moroccan airline wants to play its part in the organization of the 2030 World Cup. In its recently adopted development plan, it has planned to strengthen its fleet of aircraft to reach 130 aircraft by 2030. Royal Air Maroc (RAM) had "anticipated the Kingdom’s desire to host this global event," said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of the company, during a conference organized by the newspaper "La vie éco" in Casablanca.

"With 130 aircraft using nearly three-quarters of them continuously at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, it is necessary to increase the capacity of the airport to absorb this growth," Addou stressed, announcing the construction of a new terminal and a runway. The CEO of RAM also stressed the need to respect the deadlines in the execution of the work, and to plan alternative plans to cope with the current demand.

The project to build a station for the high-speed train "Al Boraq" inside the new terminal of Mohammed V airport should allow travelers from Washington to Tangier, for example, to take a plane ticket to Casablanca, then take the high-speed train to Tangier, explained the official, highlighting the importance of connecting airports to cities to facilitate the transportation of travelers upon their arrival in Morocco and overcome the problem of taxi availability.
