Royal Air Maroc Unveils $25 Billion Expansion Plan, Aims to Quadruple Fleet by 2034

The national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has chosen to go further. Its new ambitions for its long-haul business are proof of this.

Royal Air Maroc aims for the heights in long-haul. The company has unveiled its ambitious plan after the announcement of the attribution of the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup to Morocco, Spain and Portugal. It plans to invest nearly $25 billion to strengthen its fleet and move from around 50 aircraft currently to 200 aircraft by 2034. This member of the prestigious Oneworld airline alliance aims to transport 32 million passengers per year, by scheduling new air routes, point-to-point connections, particularly for tourist routes, and a hundred new international destinations that will be connected to the central hub of Casablanca (73 new destinations in Europe, a dozen in Africa, a dozen in Asia and the Middle East and 13 in the Americas), reports Arab News.

RAM plans to strengthen its strategy on medium and long-haul flights. The Casablanca hub will thus be connected to mini-hubs connecting the 12 regions of the Kingdom. This will help to open up several cities and regions while strengthening their attractiveness. In total, 46 new air routes will be launched for a total of 173 frequencies. The company also intends to strengthen considerably in Africa in the coming years, with the aim of connecting the African continent more to Europe, North America and Middle Eastern destinations thanks in particular to the long-haul aircraft - including the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner - that it plans to acquire soon.

Royal Air Maroc is also committed to continuing its digital transformation by implementing several innovative solutions related to its operations, in order to improve the overall experience of its customers. This initiative is part of an action plan focused on improving the quality of the services offered, from booking to boarding, including handling and catering processes, both on the ground and during flights, we are informed.
