Robert Redford Honored at Marrakech Film Festival, Praises Morocco’s Rich Culture

Robert Redford admitted, at the end of the 18th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), his admiration for Morocco which represents in his eyes a country endowed with enormous potential and warm people. The movie star was awarded the festival’s highest distinction.

"The warmth of its inhabitants, the diversity of its culture and its deep history dating back thousands of years, arouse my fascination and respect for the Kingdom," said the actor in a message addressed to the inhabitants of the ochre city. This 18th edition of the FIFM notably crowned Robert Redford with the highest distinction. The American indeed won the Golden Star of the Festival during a moving and exceptional tribute as part of this edition.

"It was a real pleasure for me to visit the ochre city during the Marrakech International Film Festival. I first came to Morocco several years ago and I have always hoped to be able to return," continues the cinema icon in his message. The winner of the 18th edition of the FIFM will not fail to express his gratitude to the populations of the ochre city characterized by "their kindness and hospitality". Towards them, Robert Redford does not skimp on praise, admitting that he and his wife "loved to wander through the souk, admire the sites and have the opportunity to meet its inhabitants" from whom they take away "many wonderful memories, but above all the sensitivity and generosity".
