Rising Moroccan Football Stars Choose Belgium Over Atlas Lions for U20 Team

While they were expected within the Atlas Lions, two Moroccan football hopes have escaped the FRMF. Anouar Ait El Hadj and Othmane Boussaid, two promising full-backs have been called up by the Belgian federation for the U20 expedition in 2023.
They now play for the Belgian Diablotins. Ait El Hadj and Othmane Boussaid have shattered the dream of coach Vahid Halilhodzic who had wanted to see them on his team for the preparations for the 2022 World Cup.
According to the daily Assabah, the fault lies with an ineffective FRMF recruitment cell that did not know how to take the necessary steps with the players’ relatives and agents in time. Information confirmed by Ait El Hadj’s father who would not have been contacted in time by the FRMF agent in charge of detection in Belgium.
In the sights of the Belgian federation for years, Anouar Ait El Hadj who had already taken his first steps in U18, U17 or U16, is preparing his first match with the Belgian hopes on Friday in Kazakhstan for the Euro 2023.
Same regret for the young winger of FC Utrecht, Othmane Boussaid who has extended his contract after his excellent season. Author of 29 matches for 3 goals and 2 assists in all competitions this season with FC Utrecht, he is thus rewarded and joins Ait El Hadj for the preparation stage of the Diablotins in Kazakhstan.
