Ridley Scott Confirms ’Gladiator 2’ in Development, Potential Morocco Filming Location Speculated

It’s official! Gladiator, the hugely successful film of the 2000s, will have a sequel. The announcement was made by its director Ridley Scott. We are already wondering if this second installment will also be filmed in Morocco as was the case for the first part.
In an interview with Empire magazine, the director said he thinks of giving a sequel to Gladiator even though Maximus, the main character of the film, dies at the end. "I’m already writing Gladiator 2," he specified, confirming the announcement made in 2017.
The film "picks up the story [...] 25 years later" even though no release date has been set yet. But the magazine is betting on a start of filming towards the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.
Moreover, the question that many film buffs are asking is whether the filming of Gladiator 2 will take place again in the striking landscape of Morocco.
It should be remembered that the filming of the first installment had taken place in Malta, Italy, the United Kingdom and of course in Morocco and more precisely in Ouarzazate. Ridley Scott, who knows Morocco well for having filmed several films there such as The Kingdom of Heaven, Body of lies, could return to the kingdom for the sequel to this production.
