’Gladiator 2’ Set to Begin Filming in Morocco’s Ouarzazate This May

The start date of filming of the Gladiator 2 movie in Ouarzazate is now known. Film lovers will be able to watch the movie starting in 2024.
The location scouting of filming sites in Ouarzazate is over. Filming of the sequel to Gladiator, the American-British film released in 2000, directed by Ridley Scott and awarded five Oscars, including those for Best Film and Best Actor, will begin in May, a source told The Sun, stating that "there is every chance the film will be ready in 2024".
For now, British director Ridley Scott has not yet revealed the synopsis of the film. But according to some media, the new film would follow the story of Lucius - the nephew of Joaquin Phoenix’s tyrannical character, Commodus, who was saved by Maximus in the first film. Connie Nielsen - who played Lucius’ mother, Lucilla - would be back, along with American-naturalized Beninese actor Djimon Hounsou who had played the role of Juba - a man kidnapped from his home by slave traders.
