Ride-Hailing App Heetch Expands to Marrakech, Training Local Taxi Drivers

The taxi booking app Heetch has just announced its launch in Marrakech. Available for two years in Casablanca and Rabat, it plans to offer its services in the coming months in other Moroccan cities.
Like the other two cities, taxi drivers wishing to join the platform undergo training that allows them to receive the "Fiddek" label. This training, provided by the city’s taxi unions, highlights the quality of service, respect for the law, friendliness and cleanliness of the vehicle.
More than 500 taxi drivers in Marrakech have received the label, "a figure that should double in the coming months," according to Heetch. The French start-up adds that the Marrakech taxi drivers have received additional training on the history of the city and its nerve centers.
The application, which allows passengers to locate and connect with drivers, is billed at the normal price of a ride, plus 10 dirhams. In exchange for respecting the "Heetch" specifications, the drivers will be entitled to health coverage, as well as discounts on tires and internet subscriptions.
