Repeat Offender Arrested for Attempted Knife Attack on Police in Salé, Morocco

A repeat offender, under the influence of drugs, was arrested in Salé. He is accused of his alleged involvement in an attempted assault, with a bladed weapon, on police officers in the performance of their duties.
The defendant, aged 23, with multiple criminal records, is listed for cases of assault and battery resulting in death and attempted rape. The accused, under the influence of drugs, presented himself at the police station on duty, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the same source, the defendant was hiding a knife under his clothes and deliberately tried to assault, without apparent reason, a police inspector. The latter was forced to use his service weapon, firing three warning shots.
Shortly afterwards, the suspect fled before police elements arrested him, firing a 4th warning shot, the same source said.
For the needs of the investigation, the defendant was taken into custody, pending the determination of the motives and causes of his criminal acts and the elucidation of the ins and outs of this case.
