Renault Boosts Local Production in Morocco, Exports Surge Despite Global Chip Shortage

In a difficult automotive context due to the global electronic component crisis, Renault has strengthened its leading position in Morocco. In the first half of the year, the brand reached 64% local integration rate and 1.3 billion euros in sourcing.
More specifically, the French manufacturer reported in a review that it produced 168,239 vehicles in Morocco by the end of last June, including 119,970 for the Tangier plant and 48,269 for the Renault Casablanca plant, Somaca.
Exports, on the other hand, also increased by 10.6%, or 139,104 vehicles, compared to the same period last year.
"The industrialization of new models in the Tangier and Casablanca plants in 2021 and the ramp-up of the Renault ecosystem have made it possible to reach the 64% local integration rate and 1.3 billion euros in sourcing, in line with its commitment by 2023," explained the French group.
